CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

Jacob’s Vision is committed to the safety, wellbeing, and rights of all children and young people. We believe every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment, free from harm, abuse, or exploitation.

1. OUR COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY

We are dedicated to:

  • Promoting the safety and wellbeing of children in all our activities

  • Taking a zero-tolerance approach to any form of child abuse or neglect

  • Creating environments where children feel safe, respected, and heard

This commitment applies to all children we work with, regardless or gender, background, culture, ability, or circumstance.

2. SCOPE OF THIS POLICY

This policy applies to:

  • All staff, volunteers, and board members of Jacob’s Vision

  • Any supporters, contractors, or third parties representing our organisation

  • All projects we support or fund, including those delivered in partnership

3. WORKING WITH PARTNERS

Jacob’s Vision currently partners with Action for Empowerment, the local organisation responsible for delivering the orphan education project and related community initiatives.

We work closely with our partners to:

  • Ensure child safeguarding practices are embedded in all programs

  • Support capacity-building and ongoing accountability

  • Regularly assess and confirm that child protection measures align with Australian and international child safeguarding standards

We expect our partners to:

  • Uphold a zero-tolerance policy for child abuse

  • Ensure children’s rights, voices, and safety are priorities

  • Respond promptly and appropriately to any concerns

4. REPORTING CONCERNS

We take all concerns about child safety seriously. Any suspected risk of harm to a child should be reported immediately. To raise a concern, please contact us at info@jacobsvisionfoundation.org. All reports are handled with confidentiality, care, and in line with Australian and international best practices.

5. CONDUCT AND RECRUITMENT

We handle all use of children’s images and stories with care. We:

  • Seek permission (from parents, guardians, or relevant caregivers) before sharing identifying information

  • Avoid content that could be exploitative, misleading, or disrespectful

  • Ensure children’s dignity and privacy are protected

6. REVIEW AND IMPROVEMENT

We are committed to continually reviewing and strengthening our child protection approach. This policy is reviewed regularly and updated in response to evolving standards, risks, and practices.
